Relationships with David Kirkpatrick
Posted By Marc Friedland
On August 1st Charlotte South Rotary hosted special guest speaker David Kirkpatrick. David is a member of the Charlotte Dilworth South End Rotary Club and is a corporate training consultant with Dale Carnegie Training. A Rotarian since 1993, he is a member of the Charlotte Dilworth South End club and serves as Director and Club Trainer. He is a Paul Harris Fellow, Sustaining Member, and member in residence of the Dorchester Rotary Club in England. A variety of Rotary programs have been presented by David in Alabama, North Carolina and in England. David engaged us in an interactive discussion on how to build stronger relationships with our fellow Rotary Club members. He covered seven keys areas to focus on when trying to better get to know a new person. These seven key areas are:
- The person’s NAME
- Where they call HOME
- Learn about their FAMILY
- What do they do for WORK
- Learn where they want to TRAVEL
- What are their HOBBIES and Interests
- Do they have any interesting thoughts or IDEAS on current events or subjects of interest.
By focusing the conversation in these seven areas and learning and remembering these very personal facts we can build much deeper and stronger relationships with people.
