August 15th Club Meeting to be held at A Child’s Place!

Posted By Marc Friedland

Please remember that we will NOT be meeting at Zebra’s on August 15th for our usual weekly meeting.  Rather we will be meeting a Child’s Place.

In June our guest speaker Aimee Brunton – Partnership Manager, A Child’s Place received a check from the Charlotte-South Rotary Club.  To deepen our support for Charlotte’s children in need, we have now scheduled a hands-on service project.  As a reminder, the goals of A Child’s Place (ACP) are to:

  • provide stable, appropriate education to homeless students
  • provide support services to enhance their opportunities for academic success
  • provide services to families to ensure long term stability and self-sufficiency

Instead of our regularly scheduled meeting on August 15th, our club will meet at ACP.  Our agenda will be as follows:

12:30 PM – Boxed lunch/ Social/ ACP chat
1:15 PM – Stuff backpacks with back to school supplies (expect to be done by 2:30 – 3:00 PM)

A Child’s Place
601 East 5th Street, Suite 230
Charlotte, NC 28202-3000

Donations are welcome!  If anyone brings a donation, ACP will fill out a tax form for you.  ACP’s current priority needs are:

UNIFORMS: All sizes for boys and girls
SCHOOL SUPPLIES: Colored Pencils, Thin markers, Pencil Sharpeners, Index Cards

Please sport your lovely blue Rotary shirt and join your friends to help homeless children in our community have the tools they need to get a good education!

Reply to no later than August 10th with your intention to attend, or not, so we can have an accurate count for lunch.
