Meeting 04/14/14 – Council for Children’s Rights
Posted By Mark Lohsen
Marni Eisner, Director of Public Policy for the Council for Children’s Rights, will speak on the vital work they do in our community.
The Council fulfills its mission by working on issues important to children today and tomorrow. For children who have an immediate need or crisis, the Council intervenes on behalf of children via three teams:
- Children’s Defense Team
- Custody Advocacy Program
- Individual Advocacy Team
They provide attorneys, advocates and staff to protect the rights and interests of children who find themselves in need of a voice. They also connect children and their families with agencies and institutions that help them thrive.
Marni started with the Council for Children’s Rights in July 2012 after previously working as the Director of Social Action for the Levine Jewish Community Center and Director of Government Relations for the Medical Society of Virginia. She received her Juris Doctorate from Vanderbilt University School of Law and bachelor’s degree in political science from Brown University. She serves on the Board of Directors for Teen Health Connection.
