Short & Long-Term Budget Challenges in the Context of a Presidential Election Year
Sara L. Imhof serves both as the Director: Education and Grassroots Advocacy, and as a Health Policy Analyst for The Concord Coalition, a nonpartisan, grassroots organization dedicated to educating the public about federal budget issues and their consequences for the future. The Concord Coalition was founded in 1992 by two former United States Senators — the late Warren Rudman (R-NH) and the late Paul Tsongas (D-MA), and former Secretary of Commerce Peter G. Peterson.
Prior to joining the Concord Coalition in 2008, Dr. Imhof served as a senior policy analyst for the Government Accountability Office’s (GAO) health care team, focusing on Medicare quality and long-term care health policy issues.
Additional prior professional experiences include being the Assistant to the Director for the University of Iowa Center for Macular Degeneration, a Hospital Development Coordinator for both the Iowa Donor Network and the Iowa Lions Eye Bank, and a registered nurse at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.
Sara received a PhD in health management and policy from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA and serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Iowa.
Prior to that, she received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in nursing, her Master’s of the Arts in health promotion.
Throughout her career, Dr. Imhof’s research has focused generally on aging health issues—including Medicare and Medicaid policies—and specifically on end-of-life care issues, including hospice and palliative care and related policies.
She has several publications in peer-review journals, including the Journal of Health Politics, Policy, & Law, The Gerontologist, and the Journal of Healthcare Management.
