Empowering Women All Over The World

Anna Bill, a rising sophomore at Queens University and military dependent of a Naval Officer, is the daughter of Rotarian parents and is also a Rotaract participant who has moved six times during her formative years. After completing high school in Southern California – including a three-week mission trip to Sierra Leone, Africa with Children of the Nations (COTN) her senior year — she matriculated into the college track like many of her peers, attending George Washington University (GWU) as a freshman in International Affairs. After only one semester, she heard a calling to serve, but wasn’t sure what that calling was trying to tell her (more later on the calling). During her second semester at GWU, she realized it was not the school for her and subsequently requested a transfer to George Mason University (GMU).

While pursuing her transfer to GMU, the calling came back in the form of a summer abroad search. Through that search, she found a one-year biblical program in San Diego called IMPACT195, offered through Rock Church (much like our Elevation Church). The mission of the IMPACT195 School of Ministry includes an intensive one-year discipleship experience that helps individuals discover who God designed and destined them to be and equips them to fulfill their God-sized purpose in life. By pushing pause on the busyness of their lives and sitting at Jesus’ feet for a year at the School of Ministry, they learn to walk confidently in their Christian identity. Anna was inspired, took a sabbatical from college and completed Impact195 with three mission trips.

Upon completion of that tour, she wanted to put what she learned into practice. Again, back to the search, Anna was inspired by a book “Kisses from Katie” and found a mission organization that seeks to empower African women and children and is called “Empower A Child”. Anna has been to Uganda twice (in 2015 and 2016) with the “Women’s Empowerment” program and brings a unique perspective from the millennium generation that IS trying to make a difference.

She is excited to make Charlotte her home for at least the next three years, and considers having her boyfriend of four years also located here as being an important additional perk.
