Saving the River
Emilee Syrewicze is Executive Director of Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation (CRF) of Charlotte, which educates and advocates for protecting the Catawba-Wateree River basin — one of the most endangered rivers in the United States. Emilee has studied political science and chemistry at Alma College in Alma, Michigan and spent a spring term writing her thesis about water policy and urban development in China. After graduating from Alma, she attended the Vermont Law School where she concentrated on water law and nonprofit administration. While still in law school, she clerked for the Center for Environmental Law and Policy in Seattle, Washington. After receiving her JD from VLS in 2011, she became Executive Director of Northwest Michigan Supportive Housing in her hometown of Traverse City, MI before relocating to Charlotte in April of 2015 to direct CRF.
Emilee loves to spend time outdoors, is a classical pianist, and is also a member of the Rotary Club of Charlotte.
