The Helping Hand Project – 3D printing prosthetics
The goal of the project is to make sure no kid in need has to go without a functional prosthesis, while removing the financial burden from the family. We support and connect the children and families we are lucky to meet.
Jeff Powell started the project to build a prosthetic hand to donate to a local boy in need. Seeing the potential to help more children, he worked to better the design and manufacturing process to improve the functionality of the prosthesis, while reaching out to the community to find more kids in need of help. The project was built to bring together biomedical engineering students at UNC to donate time, while crowd-funding for resources, in order to reach as many kids as possible with the best prosthetics possible.
